In April 2023, the City of Edmonton's YouTube channel released a brief video aimed at informing the public about the ongoing drug toxicity crisis within the local community. The video features an interview with Crystal, a mother who shares her story about her twenty-year-old son who had been working as an electrical apprentice until he tragically lost his life due to opioid use. Spurred to prevent others from suffering the same fate as her son, Crystal also speaks about her current efforts to raise awareness and combat the drug toxicity crisis in her community.

Presents short interviews with 11 Indigenous people with lived experience, this campaign includes individual talks discussing the overdose crisis, recovery from addiction and substance use-related stigma. Special attention is paid to the uniquely Indigenous experience of drug addiction (e.g., as a consequence of intergenerational trauma), as well as the need for harm reduction and "<em>land-based healing" </em>(a recovery approach via attuning to indigenous culture). Additionally, the campaign website includes information on the overdose crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic, educational and community support resources for addiction, and promotional campaign posters.

Coinciding with #MensHealthWeek in June 2021, Health Canada had created a social media campaign dedicated to to reducing stigma and raising awareness around the opioid epidemic within the trades. Within these campaign social media posts, users were invited to visit the campaign's webpage to learn more and find resources, featuring the following sections:<br />
<ul>
<li><em>Men in trades and substance use</em></li>
<li><em>Find help with substance use</em></li>
<li><em>Learn about the harms of stigma</em></li>
<li><em>Know the risks of opioids and how to save a life</em></li>
<li><em>Chronic pain and substance use</em></li>
</ul>
Two months later, a related resource toolkit for dealing with substance use issues in the workplace titled, "S<em>ubstance Use and the Workplace: Supporting Employers and Employees in the Trades</em>", was released by the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA). Constructed with the help of Health Canada and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, this toolkit contains information on several topics, including:<br />

<li>Explaining stigma</li>
<li>Problems with orgnaizational cultures and workplace risk factors</li>
<li>Education resources</li>
<li>Addressing substance use in the workpalce</li>
<li>Policy and procedure guidance</li>
<li>Employee resources (including getting help)</li>
<li>Lists of related sources or organizations</li>
</ul>
Finally, a 30-second live-action video ad was released in September 2022 to raise awareness around the stigma of substance use and how it can be a barrier to recovery for men in the trades. Following a construction worker as he lofts around a cinderblock home (representing the stigma of his substance use), the narrator comments that his wife tries to take it away for him but he refuses, drawing parallels to how stigma can be a heavy burden and can create difficulty in asking for help for one's personal issues with addiction. Nonetheless, the narrator emphasises that individuals like him can get better with support, and that it takes strength to reach out for help (countering the idea that "needing help" is a sign of weakness).

Targeting men employed in skilled trades and transport, this Vancouver Island-based campaign sought to raise awareness for drug addiction support services, provide education on overdose prevention and treatment, and encourage the breaking of silence around personal drug use. Having been conducted in 2021 and 2022, this campaign included "[advertisements on] radio, social media, digital channels and display ads in bus shelters" (from press release article). <br /><br />Subtly highlighting the other identities of people who use drugs, these advertisements featured images of men in different contexts, including working in a woodshop and playing with a child. Each advertisement also included this tagline: <em>"Too many men have been lost to overdose. We're here for you because we want you to be here too."</em>

Created in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, this campaign sheds light on the disproportionate impact of the opioid epidemic on tradespeople, with a particular focus in times of quarantine. A collaborative effort between several trades organizations in Ontario to push for meaningful policy changes, this campaign includes a website that hosts a series of PSAs featuring figures in the trades industry, healthcare workers, and politicians to discuss the urgency and gravity of the overdose crisis in Ontario. <br /><br />In promotion of this website and its materials, social media posts were created on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. In each of these posts, an image (usually of a person's face) is paired with a quote or line about the opioid epidemic. For example, one social media post features a face of a dejected construction worker (implied to have a drug addiction) and comments that this person could be someone in our community, or even ourselves.

Presented by the Tides of Change South Surrey Overdose Prevention and Response Community Action Team, this campaign consists of an eight-minute video that shines a light on the disproportionate impact of the opioid overdose crisis and toxic drug supply on people in the trades. Thus, four men from the construction industry and trades were invited to share their personal experiences with substance use and their insights on how to stay safe in the face of a poisoned drug supply. In addition, four 1-minute spotlight clips have also been produced for each of the featured men to share on social media. At the end of the video, viewers are invited to visit two weblinks to learn more about the opioid overdose crisis in the trades (see related links above).
